About RAWCS Western Region

RAWCS Western Region is active in providing world community service across many activities, including programs such as Donations In Kind (DIK), Rotary Project Volunteers, Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM) and Safe Water Saves Lives (SWSL).

The Western Region committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Belmont Sports Recreation Centre, Abernethy Rd, Belmont ".

Programs

Donations in Kind (DIK)

Some of the projects in the Western Region are listed below.  While the Western Region focus is primarily the Indian Ocean rim, this does not preclude assisting other countries when the opportunity arises.

  • More than 900kg of medical equipment for Lesotho (DIK Coordinator)
  • A container of medical equipment for Zambia (RC of Willeton, )
  • School furniture and supplies for a needy Zulu school in South Africa (RC of Darling Range,  -- Project WR707-2008)
  • Hospital beds and children's books for Samoa (RC of Heirisson, )

  • Autoclave (steam sterilizer) for Vietnam (RC of Rockingham, )

 

 

 

Rotary Project Volunteers                  

Examples of recently completed Western Region projects -

  • Transport of Medical Equipment to Lesotho: AFRICA  (Rotary Club of West Perth) Raised funds to pay for the transport of a donated coagulation analyser.
  • Dolls for Orphans: (Rotary Club of Darling Range)Provided hand-made dolls for HIV-AIDS orphans in Africa.
  • Home for Seniors: Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, India.(Rotary Club of Midland) This project provided accommodation for senior citizens displaced by the tsunami disaster.
  • Rebuilding a Community:  SRI LANKA Tsunami (Rotary Club of Fremantle City, Rotary Club of Colombo MidTown)  Built a community village in the Galle Region for about 35 families who lost their homes in the tsunamis.
  • Bali Kids Sponsorship Program (rotary Club of Swan Valley) . check their facebook page

 

 

Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM)


You can help eradicate Malaria by donating to the RAM program using Project WR102.  The money will be used to fund activities such as the purchase of bed nets for villagers at risk of this terrible disease.

 

 

Safe Water Save Lives (SWSL)
