History

Until 1987, the various activities of World Community Service were practiced in Australia as totally separate programs, each with its own constitution and each answerable to a different authority.

Rotary Australia World Community Service Limited was set up as a public company to coordinate the activities of Rotary FAIM Australia (FAIM), International Projects Advisory Committee (IPAC), Donations in Kind (DIK), later Safe Sanitation and WaterSave Lives (SSWSL) and Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM).

The governing Body of Rotary Australia World Community Service Limited is its Council which consists of all Australian District Governors of the day who elect a Council chairman.

The council holds its Annual General Meeting during the Zone Institute meeting each year, when elections are held to elect members of the Board, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the National Advisory Committee and the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the various National Activity Committees.

Rotary Australia World Community Service Limited, being a public company limited by guarantee, is bound by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. A copy of the documents should be held by all District Governors, District RAWCS chairmen and other elected officers of the company.
