Other Programs

There are a number of other RAWCS programs that run both independently and as subsidiary programs of major RAWCS programs like Donations In Kind (DIK), Safe Sanitation and Water saves Lives (SSWSL) and Project Volunteers.

Examples include Pacific Training Aid (PTA) and Adopt-A-School (AAS).

Pacific Training Aid Committees work to enhance the skills and ability of the people in the areas that RAWCS has chosen to help in order for them to pass on those skills to others in their country.

Adopt-A-School (AAS) is a program in District 9650 is to link schools in their district to schools in selected areas in order to provide: assistance to the students, teachers and parents in the linked schools as a challenge for the children of their district and the opportunity for cross cultural exchange between the two sets of schools.

Other Rotary projects that operate overseas and provide participation opportunities include

Romac
Interplast

Romac is a Rotary program that encompasses all the Districts of Australia and New Zealand. Assisted by many eminent Australian surgeons who donate their time free, this humanitarian program has provided over 300 children from 20 developing countries with urgent medical treatment for problems such as herniated brains, deformed limbs, horrific burns and heart conditions .
The children are brought to Australia, as medical treatment is simply not available in their home countries.

Interplast provide access to surgical and allied health services in developing countries in the Asia Pacific region by providing programs of free medical treatment and training. Interplast volunteers provide free treatment to people living with a disability from a congenital condition such as cleft lip and palate, or an acquired condition such as burn scar contractures. Treatment is targeted to the indigent population who would otherwise not be able to afford to access services.
It also assists with developing local capacity to provide surgery and ancillary services by providing training and mentoring programs for medical and allied health professionals. All Interplast programs are training programs — leaving a legacy long after the team has gone.
