Further Examples of RAWCS Projects

With projects running throughout much of the developing world, there are a multitude of opportunities for volunteers to get involved in overseas RAWCS projects.

Project 29 / 2011 - 2012
Alliance for Smiles Ghana -Accra

The team was made up of 14 medical and non medical volunteers
On clinic day our selection of patients from Northern Ghana were very poor and malnourished adults and children with unprepared cleft lips or had a “Noma” which is the result of an infection in their sinuses which eats away the tissues of the face.

Project 06/2008-2009 -Eduvu Water

The village of Eduvu is located approximately one and a half hours drive north of Port Moresby. The village women have to walk several hundred metres to the river to get water The provision of piped water to the village would make their lives so much easier.

Ngari Nurses' Aid Station,

The project was to construct a Nurses' Aid Station in a remote area, known as Ngari, Gizo, Solomons. It drew Rotarians together from clubs in two districts s 9600 and 9750.

Soibada Water Supply

Soibada is a remote village geographically in the centre of Timor Leste about 6 hours drive from Dili over tortuous roads into the mountains. Some 5000 people live in and around Soibada and water supply has been an ongoing problem for many years.

Project 11/2008-09 CatheterX-ray Laboratory

Installation of a new CatheterX-ray Laboratory Machine, Shastin Hospital, Ulaabaatar, Mongolia commenced in April 2009. Teams of volunteer medical engineers, builders, carpenters, electricians and vinyl floor layers installed the donated machine and trained staff in its use.
